Upcoming Events

In the Gallery - Tom Lewis "Imprisonment Dreamscapes"
A new exhibit will be opening in the Reeves Gallery on Sunday, September 7 after the 10:30 Mass. Tom Lewis (1940 - 2008), one of the "Catonsville Nine" Catholic anti-war activists designed a set of silkscreens during his three years in the federal peitentiary in Lewisburg, PA for burning draft records on May 17, 1968. His "Imprisonment Dreamscapes" express his emotional anger and anxieties in these striking images. The silkscreens are on loan for this exhibition which will run from September 7 - 28.

Young Married Couples Group - September 7
Young Married Couples gather in Ignatian Hall periodically for a potluck dinner after the 6pm Mass.  All couples who have been married for 10 years or less are welcome to join them for food, fellowship and fun. On June 29, 2008, these questions were explored: How do we choose whose family to visit? How do we create our own summer traditions? And just when did vacation stop being relaxing? The next gathering will be on Sunday, September 7 at 7:00 p.m. If you are interested in learning more about this group, please contact Theresa at tmlueke@yahoo.com.

Iñigo Book Group - September 9
The Inigo Book Group will meet on Tuesday, September 9, to begin the discussion of Lincoln at Gettysburg: The Words that Remade America, by Garry Wills. Doors open in Ignatian Hall at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome! For further information, contact Eileen Perkins.

Fair Trade Coffee, Tea and Cocoa - September 14
In Ignatian Hall on the second Sunday of every month after the 9:30, 10:30 and 6:00 PM Masses, representatives of the Justice and Peace Committee sell Fair Trade coffee (various blends, whole bean and ground, caffeinated and decaffeinated), tea, cocoa, chocolate bars, dried cranberries, nuts and extra virgin olive oil in an effort to support the farmers in Third World countries.

Lives in the Making - October 8
Meet the apprentices and instructors of Chefs in the Making and enjoy the delicious dinner they have prepared for us. Gatherings are generally held on the third Sunday of every month at 7:15 p.m. at The Dogwood in Hampden. For further information or to reserve a place at the table, contact us.

Feast of St. Ignatius - July 27
Although the actual feast day is July 31, we celebrated the feast of our patron saint on Sunday, July 27. Bishop Denis Madden, the urban vicar, was the presider at our solemn liturgy at 10:30 and numerous Jesuits concelebrated.  The extraordinary St. Ignatius Quartet, accompanied by organ, strings and winds, presented selections from the Mass in D minor composed by Johann Nepomuk Hummel in the early 19th century, and there was a special reception in Ignatian Hall after the 9:30 and 10:30 Masses. What a wonderful celebration!
