THE ORDER OF THE MASS

As Catholics we have all been present at a Eucharistic Liturgy (Mass) where our participation is by rote with little thought given as to why we are doing something and why the priest is doing what he is doing. What meaning or symbolism, if any, is associated with the environment and all of the move-ments, the postures and the gestures? Have they always been prescribed or have they evolved over the years? The series below on the various parts of the Mass was presented in order to explain those aspects that we all observe as we participate in a Eucharistic liturgy. Please note that this series was presented prior to the implementation of the changes in the New Roman Missal discussed above. .
