The Saint Francis Xavier House of Prayer, an apostolate of Saint Ignatius Church and the Baltimore-area Jesuits, is a Retreat House located in the urban setting of downtown Baltimore. Our mission is to assist individuals and groups in furthering their spiritual development, and to promote Ignatian Spirituality as embodied in the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus. Our Ignatian Spirituality is a mysticism of service by which we develop contemplative “men and women for others” who find God in all things, and who work for a better world with a faith that does justice.
